To get onto the Internet or to send and receive Email's, you need what is called a dial-up connection to an Internet Service Provider, (ISP).
Your computer uses your normal telephone socket. A call is placed to an ISP who checks to see if you are a subscribed user. When this is done you are given access onto the web and to any email facilities to which you are entitled.
There are a lot of ISPs around but sadly they all assume that you are a visual user and require you to enter detailed information through a series of displayed boxes, known as windows. All of this could be very difficult without sighted assistance.

You can surf at any time and for as long as you wish.

The Portset ISP not only provides you with a starting point onto the web at connection, but also gives you your own email address to communicate worldwide with friends and colleagues. Every time you connect to go on-line the WebTalk home page will be your first stop. The WebTalk home page includes major features of Assistance about the web, Information, a Search facility, and Links to common and specialist Internet sites. Once you are at the WebTalk home page you can go anywhere on the Internet, just enter an Internet address and off you go.
The Portset ISP Email does not have advertising. This means that the only text read for you will be the information that you want to hear and the text you need to know. Without advertising to manoeuvre through, text reading is uninterrupted.
Portset's ISP retains the privacy and confidentiality of your email address. Your email address is not disclosed to third parties so you can be confident that you will not receive confusing junk email. Only you will disclose your email address to people you contact or who you wish to contact you.
Portset's ISP is accessed using local call rate on an 0845 number which can be accessed anywhere in the United Kingdom.
Many ISP's will limit your Internet access to certain times of the day, or impose a limit of so many hours per month, but Portset's ISP does not impose a limit on your web time.
