Low blood sugar glucose monitor - for the detection of symptoms of hypoglycemia for people with diabetes.

The Monitor is a self contained device that incorporates two sensors located on the rear of the product, styled like a wristwatch.

The sensors, when in contact with the skin of the wrist or ankle respond to perspiration and body temperature (cold sweats), two common symptoms of low blood sugar.

The alarm is triggered upon the detection of perspiration or a decrease in skin temperature, two common symptoms associated with hypoglycemia.

The built in vibrator operates along with a tone beeper alarm. The persistent vibration from the alarm is sufficient to disturb most users from sleep enabling remedial action to be taken.

The Monitor is for use when sleeping, it is not designed or intended to be used as a daytime alarm. It has a comfortable adjustable elastic strap that exerts sufficient pressure to hold the sensors firmly against the skin.

The Monitor is worn on the wrist or ankle which sounds an audible alarm and vibrates to wake those people with insulin dependent diabetes who suffer from nocturnal hypoglycemia (low blood sugar while sleeping) commonly referred to as an insulin reaction and either don't wake up, or don't wake up soon enough to take corrective action.

Operation of the product is very easy and with confirmation beeps for button operation, making it usable by sight impaired people.

The only on-going costs to maintain the product is periodic replacement of the lithium 3 Volt battery, probably twice a year.

The Monitor is designed to indicate the symptoms of low blood sugars. It does this by sensing increased perspiration along with a drop in body temperature. It does not detect or indicate blood sugar levels. For the majority of people experiencing a hypo, there is a drop in body temperature with increased perspiration. If you do not suffer these symptoms the monitor may not be suitable for you.

* Hypoglycemia symptoms are unique to each person and this device does not detect hypoglycemia, only the 2 common symptoms.
